Symposium, Daylesford, Hepburn and the Macedon Ranges Visitor Economy 2018 Report

Mary-Anne Thomas MP
State Member for Macedon

Thank you to everyone who participated in last year’s symposium, Daylesford, Hepburn and the Macedon Ranges Visitor Economy with the Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford and the Minister for Tourism, John Eren.

The evening provided a valuable opportunity for stakeholders from the tourism sector across our region to discuss their goals and vision as well as the challenges they face.

These views have been collated and summarised in the attached report prepared by RMCG who facilitated the event.

The recommendations in this report will provide an important reference point for investment in our region.

It also confirms the importance of greater agency coordination and collaboration with stakeholders so tourism marketing and investment in the region can be most effective.

In terms of next steps, RDV will work with stakeholders to identify the most effective approach to progress the initiatives highlighted in the report.

As your local member, I will continue to pursue the priorities highlighted – particularly with respect to the Hanging Rock Masterplan and the coordination between the Hepburn Shire, Macedon Ranges Shire and the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges Tourism Board towards developing a plan for the Daylesford to Hanging Rock Rail Trail.

We can look forward in the next year to progressing these discussions and realizing the potential of the forum’s outcomes over time.

Thank you again for your participation in the forum, and should you wish to discuss matters related to progressing the outcomes outlined in the report, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Yours sincerely,

Mary-Anne Thomas MP
