Over 50 people attended the 7th Annual RRBATA Business Breakfast at The Grange -Cleveland Winery in Lancefield on Friday 19th August 2016
Guest Speaker was Jamie Evans (former champion jumps jockey).
He talked about the highs and lows of winning, family, lost opportunities as his career and wealth diminished due to heroin addiction and alcoholism (in part) caused by horrific injuries suffered from falling whilst riding in various races and his older brother’s suicide.
Community members, local business owners, racing industry locals, Macedon Ranges Shire councillors and executive staff, local medical practitioners, Cobaw Community health representatives and many others listened to Jamie’s story and how he is now rebuilding his life from former years when he was a drug and alcohol addict.
He spends most of his time now in talks to secondary school students, community groups and donates his fees to the Jockey Club Association that has supported him throughout.
