GRAAP February update

The Greater Romsey All Abilities Park (GRAAP) project to develop the historic former Romsey Primary School site into a regionally significant passive recreation and cultural outdoor space is edging towards reality with Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) inviting GRAAP to source Master Plan fee proposals.

Thanks to sponsorship from the Romsey Community Bank (Bendigo Bank), community members and its visitors will be breaking out the picnic rugs and indulging in the inaugural Romsey Community Picnic later this year for a celebration of what is to come! Music, food and activities for all ages will feature on the day.

GRAAP and the local community was thrilled when, in 2013, MRSC unanimously agreed to purchase the site recognising both the site’s significance and the need for a cultural and passive recreation space in the ever growing Romsey region.

As negotiations for the site’s acquisition by MRSC from the State Government are finalised, GRAAP President Raelene Mottram has welcomed the ongoing support from Council. “This will be a significant resource for both the local community and visitors to the region with the site’s significance highlighted this year as Romsey Primary School celebrates its 150th birthday.” said Ms. Mottram.
