Mental Health Week – Online Information sessions: this one -14th Oct 10:30 am

Mental Health Month and this week – Mental Health Week. We are running two online informal half hour information sessions I am hosting this week about Mental Health Care Plans to celebrate Mental Health Week.

The aim is to educate and explain the basics (as this is my most common conversation with those who connect with MHH once referred). It will lightly cover: How to get a mental health care plan to support individual mental health.

What they may discuss during their GP session. What information they need to know about (in person session and telehealth), if they have a preferred provider having these details with them. How many sessions can be rebated by Medicare per annum.

Have your Say on the draft Economic Development Strategy for the Macedon Ranges

This is your opportunity to have a look at the DRAFT Economic Development Strategy 2021-2031 which will be the (very important) reference roadmap for Economic Development in the Macedon Ranges for the next 10 years!!

Yes – it is long (42 pages!) BUT there are lots of pictures and graphics in between the important text relating to priority areas so it is not as onerous as it may seem at first glance.

Even feedback as simple as “I support the draft document” (or not!) is valuable to Council.

RRBATA’s committee will be preparing a submission so feel free to contact us if you would like us to include any particular comments.

Otherwise, you can provide independent feedback via Council’s Have Your Say page:

Have your say on the draft Economic Development Strategy – Macedon Ranges Shire Council (mrsc.vic.gov.au)

This is your chance to provide input that could impact your business and our region’s amenity moving forward so please take advantage of it if you can. The deadline is 9th AUGUST.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries about this.

Kind regards,

Jenny Stillman
President (RRBATA)

Macedon Ranges Accommodation Association-A Digital Health Check for Local Businesses

The Macedon Ranges Accommodation Association (MRAA) has received a grant from Macedon Ranges Shire Council to run a Digital Health Check Program to support the accommodation, hospitality, tourism and retail sectors of the visitor economy in the Macedon Ranges.

We’d like to offer your members the opportunity to secure one of the limited places before the program opens to the broader visitor economy in 24 hours.  Please find below information.  All you need to do is take 5 minutes to fill out the registration form.  Successful applicants will receive their own comprehensive confidential digital health check, with specific recommendations for their business.  Please feel free to share this with businesses who you feel will benefit.  Places are limited so sign up now.

Overview

We all rely on being online for our business success.  How customers find, view and interact with our businesses online directly impacts the sales we receive.  This program provides you with an expert review of your business’s online presence, compared with best practice, and provides recommendations to improve your online presence and sales.

What is a Digital Health Check?

A Digital Health Check is a detailed assessment of YOUR business’s online presence, checking every aspect of your Website, Google My Business, Socials, and Trip Advisor listings.  You will receive a CONFIDENTIAL detailed report that will explain IN PLAIN ENGLISH what is industry best practice, where you stand in comparison, and what you can do to improve.

The MRAA has partnered with award-winning online learning platform Tourism Tribe to deliver this program.  Details on the Digital Health Check can be found here.

Liz Ward, CEO of Tourism Tribe, was guest speaker at our recent MRAA meeting and provided valuable insights into COVID Consumer Trends and explained the Digital Health Check.  If you would like to receive a link to her presentation email me at president@macedonranges.org.au.

Who Should Sign Up?

If you have a business and are online you should sign up.  This program is open to small and large accommodation, hospitality, tourism and retail businesses servicing the visitor economy in the Macedon Ranges.  It is for people who want to improve their business, increase their sales, and increase their know-how.  If you would like to discuss if this program is right for you please feel free to give me a call on 5426 1762.

Thanks to the generous support of the Macedon Ranges Shire Council your Health Check is available for just $50 (usually $275.00).  The MRAA will invoice you after registration.

One FREE Digital Bizkeeper 101 Course to a lucky Participant

In additional to the Digital Health Check Program the MRAA is offering one FREE Digital Bizkeeper 101 Course to a lucky participant.  This interactive online course is for businesses who do not have a digital expert in house but who need to transform from a small business to a smart business.  This course is valued at $220.00.  CLICK HERE to find out more.

How to Sign Up?

We are offering you an exclusive 24 hour signup period after which the program will open to the whole visitor economy in the Macedon Ranges. There are only 25 spots available and over 1000 businesses so we recommend you sign up now to secure a spot.

To sign up simply CLICK HERE and fill out relevant sections of the online form (if you are a retail business select “tourism services” as your industry sector).  If there is anything you don’t understand, or you need any help to complete the form, just let us know and we will have someone available to guide you through.

Project Timing

You will be advised if your application has been successful by Monday 9th August.  Health checks will be conducted in August and delivered to you via email by Friday 27th August.

The MRAA is proud to be able support you and the visitor economy in the Macedon Ranges with this program and we hope you will find it as beneficial as those of us who have been lucky enough to benefit from it already.

Thanks and regards

Andrew

Where do I park?

Main Street Romsey and immediate vicinity cross streets  (Stawell Street, Murphy Street). Rear of Mechanics’ Institute (122 Main Street – access via William Street)

Can I buy an extra ticket on the night?

No. Unfortunately our restaurants need to cater in advance so please make sure that you purchase your ticket in advance.

Can my children come?

This is an Adult Only Event so please leave the fabulous little ones behind… you deserve a break :).

What if I have dietary requirements?

Please fill out the dietary requirement section at the time of booking. This will then be passed on to all our chefs. If you have a very specific requirement, you may need to send us a special request prior to booking. We will respond as quickly as possible as to whether we can accommodate your request. (Please understand if, due to the very specific logistics of a progressive dinner format, we are unable to fulfill your request.)

No, but you can buy any drinks you like at bar prices.

Why can’t I know the order of restaurants?

That’s the fun part of the night… and we don’t want to spoil the fun.

I missed out! Will the event run again?

We are planning 2022 already! Stay tuned…

I booked with 7 other people on the same booking. Will we sit together?

We will do our very best to sit guests together when they were booked on the same booking.

Can I add an extra guest to my previous booking?

You can make a new booking and we will try to include them in your group however we can’t guarantee that we will be able to do so. However, it’s about having fun and meeting new friends so we hope you’ll all enjoy the night regardless!

What is the maximum number of guests I can book on my single booking?

8 guests.

What is the total number of guests in each group?

50

How many tickets are being sold in total?

150

What time does the event run?

Arrival from 6:30pm, dinner is 7-10pm with the event ending at around 10:30pm.

If COVID regulations suddenly reduce patron numbers indoors, what will happen?

COVID 19 has made the events world grind to an almost complete halt. The only way forward is to have strong contingencies. We are focused on providing a great event whatever happens. Therefore we will still go ahead with a takeaway food contingency.

What if I am showing COVID symptoms and have to self isolate?

Firstly, we’d really miss you and hope you get better soon. Then we’d encourage you to pass on the ticket to a family member or friend once you let us know. Finally we will of course give you a full refund if required.

Just let us know as soon as you can.

Bendigo Bank Board Members Required

Lancefield & Romsey Community Financial Services Limited is the management company of the Community Bank branches at Lancefield & Romsey. Following the retirement of long standing Board members, the Company is seeking interested residents to apply to join like-minded volunteers in this highly active community organisation.

The Community Bank is a major contributor to the amenity and financial wellbeing of our Romsey and Lancefield communities, and has distributed more than $1.6 million in grants and sponsorships to local groups over the past 19 years. The company is particularly seeking applicants with an understanding of the needs of the Lancefield and Romsey communities together with an appreciation of the impact of technology and online banking on customer engagement.
These roles may be of interest to persons who are either working or retired. Experience in corporate/financial affairs or business management is an advantage but not essential. The ability to invest your time and energy is a key attribute that we’re looking for. Various training options are available for successful candidates.

The positions are voluntary and therefore a strong commitment to community affairs is essential. There is a minimum
commitment of at least 10 hours per month, including a monthly Board meeting and participation in regular Board committees.

Expressions of interest, with a brief resume, should be addressed
to the Company Secretary at PO Box 30, Lancefield, 3435 or emailed to info@lrcfsl.com.au by 31st December 2020.

CHRISTMAS in ROMSEY is COMING !!

Community members are asked to start planning your Christmas decorations and lights and to think about the Main Street Christmas tree decorations you plan to use.

Lancefield Farmers Market 22nd August at ROMSEY OVAL

The Lancefield Farmers’ Market will move to Romsey Community Sports Oval, at Park Lane Romsey for August 2020. It will occur on the usual date and time, Saturday August 22 from 9am-1pm.

The market is an essential food service and will operate under strict adherence to all State government, Council and Victorian Farmers’ Market Association safety and hygiene guidelines.

We ask shoppers to remember that during the pandemic, this is not a social event, and to limit shopping to one person per household. We ask people to be safe, stay distant, shop for provisions from our local farmers, supporting our local economy, and go home. Above all, be respectful of the need to follow safety guidelines – there will be extra volunteers on hand to help make this happen. (Pool noodles may indeed be visible as we help us all keep our distances)!

The Friends of the Farmers Market and Lancefield Neighbourhood House are extremely grateful to the organisations which have supported the efforts to find an eastern corridor location for the market to run this month. These include, Romsey Region Business and Tourism Association (RRBATA) and the Romsey Neighbourhood House (RNH). It is anticipated this relocation to be an interim measure until COVID restrictions ease sufficiently to allow it to return to its High Street Lancefield venue.

Spokesperson for RRBATA, Jenny Stillman said that RRBATA has always been very supportive of the Lancefield Farmers Market as an economic development and visitor economy asset and was concerned that it might be lost to the eastern corridor of the Macedon Ranges.  “Finding a temporary location for the market allows Romsey and Lancefield to  continue the support of our local producers and their capacity to deliver their wonderful produce to the community”.

We look forward to seeing you at Romsey Oval on Saturday the 22nd. Entry via Park Lane, please follow all signage.

For information of Farmers market COVID procedures please go to

https://www.vfma.org.au/ to which LFM adheres to wholeheartedly.
