On Remembrance Day 2011 a special service was held at the entrance to the Avenue of Honour. In attendance were: Macedon Ranges Shire Mayor Henry McLaughlin, local Councillor Joe Morabito, Rotary President Dennis Ness and members – Vicki Pettingill, (PP) Mark Shepherdley, Anne Collins as well as Honorary members Peter Mitchell (and Margaret Mitchell) and Annie Phelan AOM. RSL President John Lynch and RSL members, three local primary schools (Romsey Primary – Principal Joan Gibbs, Lancefield Primary – Principal Diana Ellis and St Mary’s Primary School Principal – Anthony Falls) with staff and/or student representatives also attending. Many others in the community representing varrious groups as well as Don Gray and the Bendigo Bank tellers were in attendance for this special event.
