Dear All
The celebration of Australia Day in Romsey has had uncertainty associated with it in recent years. This is despite Macedon Ranges Shire Council making $500 funding available to support any group(s) wanting to organise a relevant community event.
Although it is a tricky time of the year with many people on holidays, many towns organise an opportunity for community members to come together for a short while and celebrate the national day. This can be as simple as a community breakfast over an hour or two or a program of innovative activities.
First Romsey Scouts are keen to maintain the important tradition of a flag raising ceremony in our town on Australia Day.
I am writing to enquire who might be available and interested in helping to pull something together to facilitate this. It is difficult for groups as a whole to often commit to an event at this time, but just a few individuals could organise something simple for the day/morning to accompany a flag raising ceremony.
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in facilitating an Australia Day celebration for Romsey.
Meanwhile, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Kind regards,
