Light Up the Sky Festival Huge Success

 

 

The illuminated tree in Romsey Park lit blue in support of AUTISM awareness

"Shop Local" was the theme of the event that attracted approx 1000 people from the community.

Sponsorship provided by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Romsey Community Bank, McCollproperty, BRD Excavations provision of  ProQuip Lighting Towers for the Skate Park, McLaughlin CB Services (Cargo and Air Freight), Sign Obsession, and Romsey Primary School (for use of their oval). Photo shows: RRBATA committee member Benny Dyer and RRBATA Treasurer Wendie McLaughlin are chatting with CFA volunteers as the event progresses.

Big 8m x 8m screen was a great backdrop (provided by Grant Victor-Gordon) for the slides as darkness set in detailing the sponsors and all local industries and community groups as well as promoting Lancefield Romsey Lions Club, Romsey Lancefield Rotary Club and Autism Awareness

Dave Allen (MC for the event) provided music throughout the festival

enCourage Church was well set up to provide support to the community event.

The big dipper slide proved a huge success as the night went on with literally hundreds of children participating.

Romsey Kindergarten provided activities for the youngsters

Greater Romsey All Abilities Park (GRAAP) provided stalls for handheld lights as well as party food for the event

The Parachute Activity game proved popular and was supervised by Pres Jenny Stillman and Treasurer Wendie McLaughlin (RRBATA)

Rotarians assisted with the event. Here is Secretary Shane Pettingill supervising one of the carnival games. With the Handball game in the background supervised by Vicki pettingill and (PP) Diane Powell (Rotary). Thanks to Werner for the handball board that was popular with older children on the night.

Kyneton Lions Club provided a train that rode around the Skate Park until it was dark

Rotarians Vicki Pettingill, (PP) Diane Powell, (PP) Peter O’Rourke, Secretary Shane Pettingill ably assisted throughout the afternoon and evening.

Romsey 1st Scouts provided sausages and other hot foods for the event.

St John Ambulance was there just in case anyone needed first aid

Red Cross (Romsey) were in attendance and advertised their centennial Quilt project

Milos Staric (electrician) gave of his time to make sure the electrical connections were working and updated some of the lighting in the pavillion.

Crack A Jack company provided the highlight for the evening with Fireworks from 8.30 pm to 8.45 pm in spectacular fashion. Here are some photographs of the fireworks:
