Local Romsey Resident — Lizanne Richards: Album Launch at Newham 10th AUGUST 2013

Lizanne Richards’ Album Launch at Newham

Local ROMSEY resident Lizanne Richards’ pre-release album launch will be held at the charming Newham Mechanic’s Institute. Julia McNamara from the Newham General Store will be creating cheese and charcueterie plates which will be available on the night as will a selection of local wines by Midhill Winery.

Lizanne Richards (formerly Lady Grey) spent her early childhood in Niger, Africa. At the church she attended local African women accompanied the singing with traditional clay drum rhythms. She fondly remembers joining them down the front to play and sing.

Lizanne Richards’ self-titled debut album heralds an exciting new direction for Lizanne. It was produced by guitarist and Aria award winner Shane O’Mara. Expect bluesy alt-folk songs with rhythmic sparkle, delivered with intensity and soul. Part Joni Mitchell, part Good Lovelies, part Portishead, Lizanne inhabits complex yet somehow spacious liminalities of both style and emotion. Most captivating about the listening experience is the distinctiveness and quality of the songs themselves.

Lizanne’s album will be officially released in September and distributed physically and digitally by Vitamin Records. Lizanne also appears as a guest vocalist on Tim Rogers’ album opener ‘All or Nothing’ on his latest release, Roger Sings Rogerstein.

Cost: Tickets $15.
