Council Collaboration Continues
GRAAP is continuing to collaborate with Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) as Council proceeds with a feasabilitiy study to explore acquisition options for the old Romsey primary school site. Jodie Turner, MRSC’s Coordinator Places and Partnerships, has been incredibly supportive to the GRAAP committee, having invited comment about the study’s process. GRAAP will assist the study by providing evidence based input as to the value of this open space site both generally and in the context of the GRAAP project.

New Postcards
Keep an eye out for the GRAAP old primary school postcards to be launched at the Romsey Festival and coming soon to prominent points around town.

Swap Meet Fundraising
GRAAP conducted a very successful food stall at the recent inaugural Romsey Swap Meet. This event, organised jointly by the Masonic Lodge and Lions Club, was very well attended with over 126 swap sites and approximately 200 show cars. Great weather ensured plenty of hungry spectators were present to indulge in both GRAAP’s and the Lions Club’s hot food and cold drink offerings! GRAAP Committee is most grateful to the organisers for inviting the group’s participation.

Romsey Festival
By the time this Rag goes to print, another Romsey Festival will have passed. GRAAP’s plans for the festival include involvement in both fundraising (through a hot popcorn stall) as well as talk to community members about the old primary school site and the progress of acquisition discussions with MRSC. Events such as this are a great way for groups such as this to interface with its community. A sneak preview of GRAAP merchandise will also be available at the GRAAP stall. A full report will follow in the February edition of the Rag.

Macedon Ranges Business and Community Directory

We are in the process of developing a new and improved community directory that will be available on our new website set to be launched in 2013.

This new directory will offer community groups and not-for-profit organisations in the Macedon Ranges a free space to advertise their group. Each group will be responsible for updating and maintaining their own entry via a secure login.

To be included in the new directory, we are asking community groups to register their details before Monday 19 November 2012. All groups who register before 19 November will go in the draw to win an adult double-pass to a show of your choice at the Kyneton Town Hall in 2013 (subject to ticket availability).

After you register, you will be contacted closer to the launch date and provided with important information about your entry, including login details and instructions on how to update your listing.

Groups and organisations who do not register before 19 November 2012 won’t be able to register their details until the directory is launched.

How to Register
To register, your group must be a community-based group or not-for-profit organisation based in the Macedon Ranges Shire and must have a valid email address. This is essential so that we can offer regular reminders about keeping your entry up-to-date and so you can find out about new directory features on offer. If your group doesn’t have an email address, you can easily create one for free at sites such as Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo.

Local businesses can register to be included in the Macedon Ranges Business Directory that is also being developed.

For further information, contact the Economic Development Unit on 5421 9616 or

Movember – a global movement
No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, and to act on that knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.9 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Denmark, Norway, Belgium and the Czech Republic. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.
