RRBATA and LIGHT Up the SKY EVENT (Latest news)

Saturday 21st April 2012 will be a great one to be in Romsey. With the autumn leaves in their full glory, you can spend the afternoon having Devonshire tea at the Romsey-Lancefield and District Ambulance Auxiliary’s “Antique and Collectables Valuation” fundraiser at the Romsey Ambulance Station (1-4pm).

In the evening, the Romsey autumn night sky will be illuminated at the “Light Up The Sky 2012” community event organised by the Romsey Region Business and Tourism Association (RRBATA) on Saturday 21st April 2012.

WEST BOURKE BOOKS Inc Donation of local History Books to Romsey Hub Library

Members of West Bourke Books Inc donated a substantial collection of local history books from their own collection as well as many local histories from families and townships in the Macedon Ranges as well as Kilmore and Sunbury.

President of West Bourke Books Inc Dr Greg Powell (La Trobe University lecturer), local author and member of WBB Peter Mitchell presented a large collection to the Romsey Library Hub (part of the Goldfields Library Corporation).

These historical texts will be housed at the Romsey Hub Library with restricted access (cannot be borrowed).  Researchers of the local townships, and those wishing to research their family history will be able to utilise this collection in the future.

Photograph below shows President of WBB Inc Dr Greg Powell, local author and WBB member Peter Mitchell, John Bourne (Manager of the Gisborne Library) and Sara Bryant (Manager of the Romsey Library) standing in front of the collection.

The donation by West Bourke Books Inc is in recognition of all past and present members of WBB, the early pioneering families of the district, and local historians. The collection includes all books written by WBB and books from Kilmore, Sunbury, Kerrie, Riddells Creek, Hesket, Cobaw, Newham, Woodend, Gisborne, Bolinda, Lancefield and Romsey as well as local family histories.

Dr Greg Powell thanked all current and former members of West Bourke Books Inc (Peter and Margaret Mitchell, Alan and Joyce Jackson, Diane Powell, Gavin Smith (dec), Dorothy and Ron Viney (dec), Robyn Poletti (dec), Carole Moore (dec).
