A successful BBQ and fundraising event was held at the September Lancefield farmer’s market by the Romsey-Lancefield Ambulance Auxiliary.
Despite the weather a reasonable crowd was in attendance and supported the auxiliary by buying sausages, first aid kits and pens. A very successful raffle was organised by Val.
Thank you to all auxiliary members who attended and worked on the day. Any enquiries about the auxiliary please contact Helen Richardson ph:54296369
GOODS & SERVICES AUTION
An enthusiastic but very small crowd attended our biannual Goods and Services Auction in August. An extremely dedicated band of Fundraising and Events subcommittee members were successful in gathering a huge range of items to auction and raffle. To those that attended, thankyou very much for your support, we hope you are enjoying your purchases. To those that donated items for the event, thank you also, for your generous support. In recognition of the businesses who made donations, their contact details / website information is listed on the kindergarten website.
Fathers’ / Working Parents’ Night
A great night was held a couple of weeks ago in conjunction with Fathers’ Day celebrations. Dads and parents who do not normally get the chance to participate in kinder duty, were invited to kinder for a short time in the evening. There were some initially reluctant dads in Unit 2 who joined in the singing and dancing but then they got in to the action enthusiastically.
Emergency services visits
The 4 year old groups had a visit from Tom, an ambulance officer, recently. The children were given the chance to see some of the equipment, be hooked up to a machine for their heart rate testing and have a walk through the ambulance. Romsey Police and Romsey CFA will be visiting next term.
Footy comes to kinder
On Thursday, the last day of term, staff and children dressed up in their favourite footy team colours and had a special snack of party pies and sausage rolls, proudly donated / made by committee and some parents.
The timetable for 2010 has been finalised by staff and committee so letters of offer will shortly be sent to families enrolled for 2010, by Try Youth and Community Services, our Kindergarten Cluster Manager. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact 0416 066 347.

New Building Progress
Throughout the term the new building site has been busy with levelling, excavations and truck deliveries. Although it may appear that very little progress is being make all of the underground preparation and readiness for the footings is almost complete. Next term we will see significant
progress as the construction continues. Students have enjoyed watching the range of excavating machines and a crane operating over the last few weeks. We look forward to having this modern flexible learning space to complement our school’s facilities.
School’s Garden Competition
Once again Romsey Primary School entered the School’s Garden competition after a years break. Our school captains Sarah Edward and Tom Green played excellent hosts as they accompanied the regional garden judge June Andrew on a tour of our gardens. Sarah and Tom and explained the numerous garden projects we have had and she was impressed with the growth of the direct
seeding project and how it has been used to collect gum leaves to feed koalas after Back Saturday. They also thought that the vegetable garden and orchard is now being well used and were impressed to see the chooks and how we are recycling food scraps. At the Dinosaur Garden she was surprised to find students could be junior archaeologists and uncovered dinosaur foot prints
and fossils. They thought this was a unique garden and hopefully were impressed.
A great day of competition and sportsmanship was had by all students at the recent school Athletics Sports Day. As a result a team of over 40 students have competed at Bendigo in the Cobaw Sports. The younger students enjoyed a range of novelty events with the sack race and egg and spoon providing entertainment for parents. All students participated in the sprinting and jumping events. Congratulations to Shaw House who were presented with the shield.
Literacy And Numeracy Week
For half an hour in the bright sunshine we all read together and enjoyed sharing our books to celebrate National Reading Day. All sorts of reading material was taken outside by the students and staff with several parents and smaller children also joining us. For Numeracy the students measured their height and tallied the combined total of our students’ heights. It was 534.21m and adults is 72.05m = 606.26metre. Year 3/4MM measured out the total with the trundle wheel. They started at the White Avenue gate, came up the path all the way to the front gate and then back to the basketball court.

The Romsey Junior Football Club has marked its first season as a stand alone club with some very exciting milestones and awards. The club had 4 teams playing off in final series and 3 players receiving awards in the RDFL votes as well as a number of players representing the Riddell District Football League in the Interleague series. A huge ‘congratulations’ to everybody; the committee, coaches, parents, supporters, sponsors and most importantly all the players who participated this
year in making our junior club an unprecedented success.
Over and around the Queens Birthday weekend the club had players from the under 12, under 13 and under 14 age group represent the Riddell District League in the Interleague series they were: Under 12 Seamus Whelan, Rowan Stott, Under 13 Alec Penberthy, Jake Lever and in the Under 14’s they were Nathan Blair, Angus Storey and Ben Schuette who unfortunately was injured and could not participate. Congratulations to all you guys! Great effort.
The Final Series
Under 12 orange: Rod Deans lead his team into the finals series which was no mean feat as 9 of the team members had never played football before, the guys worked hard and try as best they could but could not win through to the next round. Bad luck guys but we are so proud of your effort and the commitment to your team mates it was awesome!!!!
Under 10 Blue:
Our youngest team that were eligible to play finals led the way and won the right to play in the under 10 age group’s first grand final. The team coached by Darren Lingard defeated Riddell in an exciting but one sided match and earned the Romsey Junior Football Club’s 1st Premiership Cup of the “New Era”. The sheer exhilaration of the win reverberated throughout the community and the players proudly wore their well earned medals and jumpers for days.
Under 12 Blue:
Finishing on top of the home and away ladder our 12 blue team were very workman like in gaining a grand final spot going straight in after the first week of finals. Michael Richardson coached the players brilliantly to win a tight game against Riddell and bring home more silverware, Well done guys a fantastic result for a fantastic season.
Under 14 Blue:
The guys went into the Grand Final as huge underdogs being beaten by Sunbury Kangaroos 3 times this year but determination and a ‘never say never’ attitude won out in the end with a very sweet premiership win indeed. Well done guys on a magnificent result.
